Star Wars Book Nook

First, I found an English tutorial for this Book Nook at Starwars.com so if you're English speaking you can have a look there. So... book nook... what is that? Second, let's change to Swedish.

Dollhouse Chaise Lounge pt. 2

It's been a while since I did an update, but finally here I am with the part 2 of the Dollhouse Chaise Lounge. It has taken almost 2,5 years to finally finish it and of course I have had other projects, but to be honest I have also struggled with how to do it. How to make the mattress and cushions?  Key question: how? The answer was layers. First I had to use a cardboard, then I added a "plastic packaging" (spare parts from purchased technology, packaging) and to fix that to the cardboard I used double-sided tape. Third layer is "plastic lining", this part was not fixed to any of the other layers. Last layer is the fabric. Step 1 I started with the hard section, the armrest as that had to be fixed in a round shape. My first try didn't work of two reasons. First I hadn't prepared the cardboard enough and second, I had tighten the fabric way too much. Step 1a To be able to fix the armrest properly I had to use nails in both sides . Step 2 Next step was t

Dollhouse Chaise Lounge pt. 1

Actually to even find plans to make a real Chaise Lounge Divan is a challenge. To find it in scale 1:12 have been impossible! That's why it has taken a lot of time to get started with this part. The middle floor in my steampunk dollhouse will be a relaxing place for the female monster hunter who lives there and a divan should be the main furniture there! Here is one from 2012 and here is the one I have copied ! I made my own plans, but I had to shorten the bed part with 1,5 cm to fit it in my house. You can find my plans here .  The first "bed part" were in teak, but I reminded it's a bit difficult to paint it. Also why use teak on something that you won't see? I changed it.  To the bones I have used old chess pieces. Bed frame of table tablets. When everything was glued I took wood filler before I started to grind. The backrest is very thin so I plan to add another piece in front of it. Unfortunately my first try, last night, d

Steampunk Dollhouse Cellar

My house have three floors. In the cellar I will have bricks on the floor, the steam engine and tools. There will also be a clock face as a window frame. Middle floor will have a divan and a fireplace, and the top floor will be a working room with a desk. The cellar. Bricks on the floor. Wife recommended me to glue the bricks to a separate part, she has also done the bricks but as they were not good enough for her she gave them to me! After glued the bricks I have spray lacked them with mat varnish as I aim to get filler between the stones. We also found a matching wallpaper!

Steampunk Dollhouse Electricity

As it's my first house I have chosen a simple solution to add light into my house: a battery box! And what could be a better way than to hide the cables inside the chimney? But somehow I have to hide that ugly battery box and therefore I will disguise and camouflage it as a steam engine. One of my lamps is red and that will go into a fireplace. The two others are white and will be added to upcoming lights. The chimney itself will be covered with bricks. Here's one of my ideas, of course I will paint the Lego wheels before add them.

Steampunk Dollhouse Roof

This house is the look I aim for. If I use layers and different colors I hope I can create an illusion that make my tower look like a house. Meanwhile creating the walls I have also prepared the roof. And to create that kind of roof as above I had to come up with a solution of how I could create tiles. Again, my solution turned out to be egg cartons. But before the tiles I glued planks to the roof, planks made from old plate tablets.  Please note : the roof is not ready, I only want to show how I have found solutions to my challenges.

Steampunk Dollhouse

My wife have a long time project. She's building a classic dollhouse from scratch and she's also crafting most of the items herself, everything from a sink to a divan, from birdcage to candles that can be lit. During the years I have followed her around on flea markets holding her purse. However, last summer after some thinking I started a new hobby; miniatures and dioramas.     During the Christmas holidays I finished our daughters dollhouse (painted the outside, the roof and added windows) and I realized this was also something I could spend more time on. I guess you can say my wife got me hooked on dollhouses.  A male dollhouse? How? ...again a lot of thinking... Steampunk. Steampunk could work! So theme was chosen and now I had to figure out, how do I do this? But why should I worry? At flea markets you can find almost everything and so even this time. I came across an IKEA shelf from late 1990's - a tower, that could fit as my first dollhou
