Steampunk Dollhouse

My wife have a long time project. She's building a classic dollhouse from scratch and she's also crafting most of the items herself, everything from a sink to a divan, from birdcage to candles that can be lit. During the years I have followed her around on flea markets holding her purse. However, last summer after some thinking I started a new hobby; miniatures and dioramas.

During the Christmas holidays I finished our daughters dollhouse (painted the outside, the roof and added windows) and I realized this was also something I could spend more time on. I guess you can say my wife got me hooked on dollhouses.

A male dollhouse?
How?
...again a lot of thinking...
Steampunk.
Steampunk could work!

So theme was chosen and now I had to figure out, how do I do this?
But why should I worry? At flea markets you can find almost everything and so even this time. I came across an IKEA shelf from late 1990's - a tower, that could fit as my first dollhouse project.

Now I had a foundation and a theme. All I needed now was inspiration, and now I re-discovered Pintarest. Steampunk, Minecraft, Medieval... There we go!

As my house is like a tower, I wanted to create some kind of illusion, a way to make the tower look more like a house and in order to do so I started to put layers on the upper parts. Egg cartons have been a positive surprise to fake bricks and stones. Electricity will go inside the chimney.
